A Kindera Digital Accessibility Audit is a whole lot more than a Word document

Kindera delivers true accessibility, not just compliance. Our comprehensive audit goes beyond basic automated testing, incorporating a range of evaluation tools and rigorous manual testing. This includes in-depth screen reader and keyboard navigation assessments, ensuring your website meets the highest usability standards for everyone.

To provide maximum clarity, we also include a personalised video walkthrough highlighting specific accessibility challenges.

All of this is included in Kindera’s exclusive Digital Accessibility Monitor.

A Kindera accessibility audit

Our audits aim to achieve the highest level of clarity and conformance. We typically use WCAG 2.2 AA as a benchmark, as this generally achieves a high standard and matches the benchmark used by UK Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 and many other International laws.

The tester

Simon Leadbetter has over 30 years experience designing, building and maintaining websites of all sizes. His blend of skills and the ability to see things from both a design a technical perspective results in a comprehensive auditing process that goes beyond the normal checklist.

The tools

We use the following tools to conduct automated tests:

  • WAVE
  • axe-core and/or HMTL Code Sniffer
  • SilkTide

The tools we use for manual testing include:

  • VoiceOver
  • VoiceOver for iOS
  • Android TalkBack
  • NVDA
  • Keyboard

The process

We are happy to adapt our process to meet your needs, but we will never cut corners.

We typically follow these steps:

  1. Initial conversation about the project, goals and establish a target standard
  2. We spend time conducting the audit
  3. Produce and submit the report and a video walk-through
  4. Meet with client project team to discuss any issues in more detail
  5. Client project team remedies issues
  6. Conduct a follow-up review

The report

We test key pages against the 56 Success Criterion (SC) of WCAG 2.2 and compile that into either a simplified report containing only the failed SC, or we can use the more formal VPAT 2.5 (WCAG) framework.

The report will be provided as a PDF containing a clear overview of the issues we have identified, along with practical advice on how the client project team can remedy these issues.

Issues are prioritised so the client team can understand which ones will present the greatest challenges and those that should be tackled first.

Accessibility is an ongoing journey

Remember, accessibility is an ongoing commitment. As your website evolves, so do the standards and expectations. That's why we provide ongoing support and guidance to help you maintain compliance and ensure your site remains accessible to all.
